Terms & Conditions of Entry

We’re are pleased that you want to participate in DC Strategy’s – Launch Your Franchise Competition. Please note that any reference to ‘you’ or ‘your’ includes you in your personal capacity, as a representative of the business, as well as the business being entered into the Competition.

This document is our ‘terms and conditions’, and if you want to participate in the Competition program, you’ll need to adhere to the below.

As with any fair competition, if you don’t comply with these terms, we have the right to disqualify you or declare your entry ineligible so it’s important to take note of these terms.

Our privacy statement will apply for your involvement in the competition. You’ll find a load of information about privacy at DC Strategy, and our privacy statement here at https://dcslawyers.com.au/privacy-policy/. As part of your participation we collect all kinds of information relating to you and your business, including your responses to the entry forms. We may share this information with our related entities, business partners, Sponsors or other third party service providers engaged to help us with the Competition, and may continue to do so, even after you have participated in the Competition. By participating you consent those with access to your information to use it to administer the Competition, send you marketing, invite you to be part of our initiatives including case studies, polls/surveys and to improve any products and services of ours, our related entities and our Sponsors.

Competition Dates

Submissions are due by 12 October 2020. Once completed, the submission will be reviewed and scored by the judges.

Shortlisted finalists announced late October 2020. Digital, press and public voting marketing may take place.

Top finalists announced early November 2020. Top finalists will may have additional requests such as interviews and media releases to be used for marketing purposes. Finalists are required to be present for the award announcements on the 13 November 2020 at the Sydney Franchise Expo.

Winner announced 13 November 2020 at the Sydney Franchise Expo*.

Expectations of Contestants

We also want you to help us or our Sponsors publicise the Competition. When attending any events related to the Competition, if requested, you or your representative must verbally endorse us or the relevant sponsor for the event. If you’re a finalist or a winner we’ll need the business owners, officers or founders to be available for promotional appearances for us or our Sponsors. We’ll give you at least seven calendar days’ notice of the time, date and location each time you’re required.  Travel and accommodation expenses of the business owner and representative will be bourne by the business.

You agree that we may use your logo, business identity, details about your business or personal identity in any way in any material which promotes the Competition or the products or services of us or our Sponsors. You agree to allow us and the Sponsors to contact you to provide comments about the Competition and to take photos or video footage of you, your business and your representative(s), and use any of the material collected as part of your participation.

All costs and expenses incurred by entering the competition are borne by you and will not be reimbursed regardless of whether or not you win.


How to Enter

To determine eligibility please see below and head to www.dcslawyers.com.au/launchyourfranchise. Instructions on how to enter, the Competition categories and the process for judging is set out at www.dcslawyers.com.au/launchyourfranchise. These sections also form part of the terms. You must complete the form and anything you include in your entry form must be true and correct.



In order to enter the Competition, the business needs to:

  • Be based in Australia
  • Have a registered Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • Have established operations for at least 12 months, with one or more units
  • Demonstrate strong profitability with accountant prepared financials
  • Ownership of at least 50% Australian-owned, with active owner operator in key management and no adverse credit history
  • Passionate and driven owners seeking to scale operations locally, regionally, nationally and globally

As these Competitions are focused on small to medium sized business, you won’t be able to enter if you have more than 200 full time employees at the close of entry date, are a government agency, more than 50% owned by another business, a commercial supplier of the Competition, have employees who judged the Competition program, have been purchased and operating as an existing business prior to purchase, have filed for bankruptcy in the past 5 years or been subject to court proceedings in the prior 12 months from the close of entry date including in owner or founders personal capacity.

Entries may only be completed online. To enter, you will need a valid email address to register online at www.dcslawyers.com.au/launchyourfranchise.

You will be required to register to submit an entry, once this is completed you will receive a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to execute. Upon signing of the NDA you will be provided with a secure link to our communications platform.

Prizes and Judging

This is a game of skill only. There is no element of chance in determining the winners. For judging criteria and categories please head to www.dcslawyers.com.au/launchyourfranchise.

All entries will be shortlisted by the organising committee based on the entry criteria and completeness of the submission before presentation to the judges for scoring.


Prize Conditions

You are only eligible to win one prize. We reserve the right to withdraw a prize if there are no eligible entrants to receive that prize.

By accepting a prize, you agree to participate in and co-operate as required with all reasonable marketing activities relating to the prize including but not limited to being interviewed and photographed. We reserve the right to use your comments, image and name for advertising and publicity purposes in any media in perpetuity without compensation.

A prize, or any unused portion of a prize, cannot be transferred, exchanged or redeemed for cash. All other expenses associated with the prizes are the responsibility of the winners.


Non-Disclosure & Intellectual Property

In your submission to the competition, you will be required to provide information that may include proprietary intellectual property and other confidential information. Likewise, confidential information may be shared to you during the judging process.

By submitting a completed entry, you confirm that you have the full right and authority to disclose such information. You also confirm that you will not disclose any confidential information that may be shared to you during the course of this competition.

By entering this competition, you grant express permission to us to disclose this information to the judges and any individuals as may be necessary to reasonably conduct this competition. We confirm that we will not use any confidential information provided to us for any purposes beyond running and / or promoting this competition.

All intellectual property utilised for the purposes of this competition remain under the ownership of its respective parties.



We reserve the right, at any time, and in our sole discretion to (a) request entrants to provide proof of identity and/or proof of valid entry (b) disqualify any entrant who we have reason to believe has breached any of these conditions or engaged in any unlawful or other improper conduct or any conduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the promotion.

Entries are accepted at the time of receipt by us. We will not be held liable for any entries not received for any reason during the promotion period.

We are not liable for any prize that may be lost, stolen, forged, damaged or tampered with in any way after it leaves our possession.

We are not responsible for any variation in the value of a prize.

If we are unable to provide a winner with a prize (or part of a prize), we will supply an alternative prize (or that part of the prize) of greater or equal monetary value and/or specification.

If for any reason, we are not able to conduct the promotion as planned, including due to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, any technical difficulties or any other causes beyond our control, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, we reserve the right in our sole discretion to take any action that may be available.

We exclude all warranties in relation to the quality, suitability or merchantability of a prize, except those that cannot be excluded by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, any liability of the Promoter or its employees or agents for breach of any rights a consumer may have which are unable to be excluded under Australian Law, is limited to the payment of the costs of having the prize supplied again.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss (including indirect and consequential loss) or damage or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the promotion including the supply of goods or services by any person to the prize winners, and where applicable to any persons accompanying the prize winners. We accept no responsibility for any tax liabilities that may arise from winning the prize.

The fine print

To the extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any loss or damage or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the Competition. You will indemnify us and our officers, employees or agents against any loss or liability from any claim or action that arises as a result of a breach of these terms by you, or your use of the materials or information supplied by you under these Terms. You irrevocably and unconditionally consents to all acts being done that would otherwise breach your Moral Rights.

If we are unable to provide a winner with a prize (or part of a prize), we will supply an alternative prize (or part of a prize) of similar monetary value. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and are not redeemable for cash. If a prize has not been claimed it will be distributed at our absolute discretion.
